Sun Is Shining!

Hi everyone! Summer is around the corner in case you didn't know. But the real reason for this post is to share this song that's been stuck in my head for about 3 months now. I don't really think this song is "blowin' up," and I didn't really know what to classify it as.

But I will say this: I like the sun. A little dose of vitamin D never hurt!

American Hero: Bootz

Here's someone that's been off my TV for far too long: BOOTZ! She's known for three main things: fighting, stealing family heirlooms, and being celibate. On Flavor of Love 2 she gained Flav's love because she would get into an argument with anything that had a pulse. Then, she we eliminated because she claimed she was celibate.

On Charm School, she stole one girl's picture of her dead mother and hid it to frame another girl. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, but Bootz is at the top of the food chain. Ultimately, she got eliminated from the show but she lasted weeks longer than she should have.

Unfortunately, she hasn't been on TV in a few year because she had a child out of wedlock. OOPS! So much for being celibate. But if she does get back on TV, I sure as hell will be watching.

Blowin' Up: Be The One

Anyone that knows Lloyd knows he's known for his smooth, R&B sound. In other words, his sound is generic and unmarketable. However, I like what he did with this song. It's a little more uptempo, and features Trey Songz and Young Jeezy. Trey's part is good, and Jeezy's part is the worst part of the track...as usual. I can see this song getting big!

Save the Couches!

What is disappearing faster than glaciers? When there are budget cuts, they get clipped faster than special ed. teachers? If you guessed couches, you're right! It's come to my attention that less and less woman's rooms have couches! Now, I'm a man. Therefore, I don't have a menstrual cycle. But I can imagine the horrors of going through a day with stomach cramps, and then when I go to the bathroom there is not a couch for me to sit on.

The other day I was at the local Oliver Garden, and from what I heard they did not have a couch in the woman's restroom. For shame Olive Garden! FOR SHAME! Couches are one of the modern luxuries that every woman deserves in their life. Getting rid of them is just wrong!

If you agree, please pass the message along!

Blowin' Up: Kerli

I may be going out on a limb here, but here's a new artist that may be impacting the US soon. Her name is Kerli, and she's here with her new, unique "bubblegoth" music. She actually isn't all that new, in fact she's been around since before Lady Gaga. If she gets big here, I know that she'll be compared to Gaga a LOT.

This song really does sound kind of funny, but it's catchy as all fuck. I'm a fan!

Hangover? Hang up.

So I saw the Hangover 2 today, and honestly, I thought it sucked. Like most movies, the best parts were in the commercials. The plot of this movies was essentially the same as the first. Most of the jokes came off as gross and appear to be aiming for that shock-factor. I have a pretty good stomach, and nothing in the movie really grossed me out, but there were parts that were unpleasant to watch. I say, go for Bridesmaids over this, but really, anyone that paid to see the first will pay to see this one. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Classic: Are You That Somebody?

This week, Aaliyah got a little press coverage (which I commented on) and I heard her playing on the radio. Here's one of my favorite songs by her, and to think, I just got into it this year. People who are into Young Money might recognize the line "I've got to watch my back cuz I'm not just anybody" from Drake's verse in Bedrock. So here you go... Bonne Appitite!

Blowin' Up: Man Down

I was listening to the radio yesterday, and I was surprised to hear this song come on. Firstly, I thought California King Bed was Rihanna's new single. Secondly, out of all of the songs from Loud this is the last on that I thought would get any radio play. Not that I don't like it, but it just doesn't seem like an obvious choice like Cheers would have been. I suppose Rihanna is going to another half-reggae hit like Rude Boy was. Whether or not this adds to her #1 streak, I'm sure it will be all over the radio this summer.

American Hero: Amanda Bynes

A couple month ago, I hated her. Amanda Bynes has been on television for close to two decades now, and she's had her ups and downs. At the end of the summer of 2010, she announced that she was done acting forever. Then, about two weeks later, she announced that she would act again. How fickle! I was annoyed by her indecisiveness at first, thinking she only made this claim to get press coverage. Now I realize that she was doing something greater, demonstrating a woman's right to chose. How beautiful! For this Amanda, I dub you an American Hero!

Watch to Watch: Rivals

Anyone the knows me knows that this is one of my favorite shows. For some reason, I have been watching these challenges since for a decade now, so I feel some type of loyalty to them. I'm looking forward to this one because it's different from the other ones, and there looks like there is a decent amount of fighting. But please MTV, bring back Coral!

Blowin' Up: Dev

Here's someone I've become a huge fan of in 2011: Dev. A year ago she was virtually a nobody, but ever since Like A G6, she's been appearing in more and more songs. Her most recent hit is Backseat with the New Boyz, but a lot of unreleased stuff is making its way onto the web. It's a shame that she doesn't release more songs by herself, because she's been in way too many songs with nobody rappers. She has some new song with this boyband imported from the UK, but this group of nobodies will keep the song from blowing up.

This year Dev's first album is going to be released, which I'm looking forward to. Hopefully this song is on it:

The Defination of My Childhood

Here's a video I found that brings be back to my first grade years. My freshman year in college could have been paid for if this trend never came into my life...OH WELL!

BEANIE BABIES!

Haterade: R.Kelly

Rewind to 1994, when R.Kelly and Aaliyah were a topic of news coverage. R.Kelly and her was supposedly dating. In 2001, Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash, ending their relationship for good. Sadly, R.Kelly is not done talking about the relationship, nor is his entourage. One member of his entourage, Demetrius Smith, is now writing a book claiming that R.Kelly got Aaliyah pregnant.

Seriously now, this is really disrespectful. IF the claim is true, I'm sure it was a secret Aaliyah wanted to take to the grave with her, and she did a good job of doing just that. Also, everyone knows that R.Kelly's career has gone down the shitter due to all of the statutory rape charges filed against him. He should not be mentioning Aaliyah's name, let alone bringing her into controversy to boost his own career. It's people like this that deserve to be hated on.

SMILE for Avril

Smile is Avril Lavigne's new single, and she has a video out for the song now. I like the song, it's one of the better songs on her album. This isn't her best video, but she's had worse. I'll always support Avril, so I figured I might as well post this here.

And while I'm on the topic of music videos, check out The Lazy Song's music video by Bruno Mars. I love it.

Classic: None of Your Business

When I was about 3 years old I used to bump this joint after Lamb Chop. I heard this slutty anthem the other day and I remembered how much I liked it. It reminds me of the days when Salt-N-Pepa were played on the radio and not VH1. Good times!

Life After Nickelodeon?

Miranda Cosgrove has been a Nickelodeon star for close to a decade now. While her shows have been hits for the station, she's beginning to develop and the end may be near (although iCarly is filming another season, thank God!). Like every other teenager the starts in a pre-teen show, Miranda is taking a whack at the music biz. He songs aren't half bad though, and she's trying to appeal to an older audience by including a swear word in her song. I'm not going to lie, I was really impressed with this, and she even got Rivers Kuomo to sing in the song with her. Give it a play!

Haterade: John Rich

Over the past couple of months I've had a new television obsession: The Celebrity Apprentice. I've been watching 2+ hours of this show a week, just to see John Rich defeat Marlee Matlin and win the whole thing last night. When Trump questioned him, he only had two real arguments as to why he should win. The first is that he was project manager more than anyone else on the show. Well, John's team lost more than Marlee's team, leaving them with fewer options for project manager...hence why he was project manager more than anyone else. His main argument was that he came on the show for one reason: the he loved his charity St. Jude Children's Hospital. He was really obsessed with the place.

Now I am not going to knock his charity. It's a great charity. However, this is the Celebrity Apprentice. If John Rich really wanted to raise money for his charity, he could have held a charity concert for St. Jude's and made more money in one night than he would have during the entire season of Celebrity Apprentice. The fact that he loves his charity is not reason enough for him to win in my eyes. He should have highlighted his success on the show when arguing about why he should win. I'm not saying that he performed poorly on the show, he was honestly one of the best, but his argument that he should win because of his passion for his charity was just a cop out to me. Marlee clearly has an attachment to her charity, but she also argued that her success on the show would be influential to other deaf people. Marlee's argument was much more convincing to me, and I really think that that she should have won.

Well, enough about this season of the Apprentice. Soon I'll post my list of who should be on the next celebrity apprentice.

Blown' Up: Rye Rye

Here's a new artist that's blowing up right now. Here name is Rye Rye and she's most famous for being the sidekick of MIA. Rye Rye's sound is about as unique as her style, which is a combination of Rihanna, a foreign hooker, and a used electronics store. Somehow she makes all of this work, and I'm hoping that she gets really popular in the near future. Female rappers are on the rise right now, and we need to see more of them succeed before the world ends in 2012.

What to Watch: Bridesmaids

SNL Guru Kristen Wiig stars in the movie Bridesmaids alongside Maya Rudolph. It was refreshing to see Maya play a role where her script did not include constant howling, although she did have a lot of spastic hand movements that I am used to seeing on SNL. Kristen Wiig did a really good job in the movie, and it was very funny. I was pleased to find out that this was not a "romantic comedy." While it has it's romance scenes, the majority of the movie is not about romance. I was also glad that this was not a real chick flick (not that it would have stopped me from seeing it) because a lot of the humor is not suitable for a chick flick. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and I think it's a good comedy. Kristen Wiig has become one of the more popular comedians on SNL recently, and this movie is a great example of what she's capable of.

Also, I'm not going to spoil the movie at all, but I am going to post a classic song from the movie. It's one of the most empowering songs from the 90's...a true gem in stone! This song hit #1 in the year 1990, and is still played on the radio all the time.

American Hero: AC Slater

Here's a true American Hero, and no, I'm not talking about Mario Lopez. I am talking about AC Slater, the character from Saved By the Bell. Why is he a hero? Because he know what being an American is all about. Firstly, he was completely ignorant of his Mexican roots and identified himself as an "American." In fact, in one episode he protests because there are not enough "Chicano Studies" classes at his college, but then her learns that skiing is more important. Another reason AC is a hero is because of doesn't take shit from the feminist bitch Jesse. Jesse was one of those girls that cried sexism every time someone placed a stereotype on her, even though it was completely true in her case. Every time Jesse called Slater out, he'd just roll with the punches. Way to go Slater! Way to go!

Disclaimer: I do not encourage people to be ignorant of their roots or place stereotypes on undeserving females, but this is what made Slater cool.

JoJo. Back and Barely Relevant.

A long time ago, before the age of Rebecca Black, there was a girl named JoJo that sang in jr. high hallways. Now, the "Leave (Get Out)" singer if finally realizing that SHE was the one that needed to leave. Woops! Only 7 years late.

Honestly, I'm surprised that she  is still making music. I'm even more surprised that I like it.

Haterade: D-Trix

Here's someone I greatly dislike.
His name is D-Trix. He is currently a judge on America's Best Dance Crew. His dance crew (QuestCrew) won Season 3. I don't really remember them, but I do give props to the rest of the dancers in his crew for tolerating him. Now, he no longer dances. He warms the chair next to Lil Mama on the judging panel. His commentary is useless. and he acts as if his opinion is as valuable as the Pope's. To be honest, no one cares if he sees improvement in Instant Noodles. It will sway 0% of the votes.
I do understand why he was picked to be a judge. However, if I were a dancer I would take no advice from this buffoon.

Zombie Prepared

The Center of Disease Control has warned American to be prepared just in case of a Zombie Apocalypse.
REALLY? There is so much flawed about this statement. Firstly, if it really is an apocalypse, you can't be prepared. You're going to die. It's just the way it is. Secondly, there are no documented encounters with a single zombie, let alone the large enough number to create fear of an apocalypse. Who decides what is needed for survival during a zombie invasion? They are fictional!

There are real things the CDC should warn us to take precautions for. EXAMPLES: Terrorist attacks, power outages, encounters with Star Jones, and swine flu outbreaks. Instead, they use a fictional "threat" to draw attention to their website. What media whores!

The Voice: Hippy Edition

I've been giving the show "The Voice" a chance recently, mostly because I want to see Christina Aguilera before her career fades into nothing. On last night's episode, Blake Shelton had his singer perform "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," despite the fact that one was a tattooed rocker and the other two were hippies that don't believe in running water.

The rocker (pictured left) came out with a bandana on his head, resembling a Ninja Turtle. The hippies were just in love. I think they only auditioned for this show because it would be a massive public display of affection. Well, Blake Shelton decided that the Ninja Turtle could stay, and he sent the hippies back to the river to pick flowers.

The show is mildly entertaining, but after every performance all four judges give their opinion. The problem is, the judge say the same thing about every performance..."Both of you did really well and it's going to be a tough decision." Despite my complaints about the show, I know I will continue to watch.

Blowin' Up- 31 Seconds Alone

Ke$ha is one of my favorite current singers. Is she talented? Not really. But she knows what works for her.

In her new song, she talks about all of the drastic, illegal things she would do to get 31 seconds to herself. I would recommend she just leave the club if she's that desperate to be by herself.

BIG Girl Appreciation Day

According to Twitter, today is Big Girl Appreciation Day. I am glad that Twitter has taken the time to recognize big girls, because I certainly do not.

After seeing that it was Big Girl Appreciation Day, I began to think about what it must be like to be a big girl. I'm assuming it's fun. I also began to think about the ways to celebrate Big Girl Appreciation Day. I couldn't think of an appropriate way to celebrate, so I Googled my thought. Google recommended I "eat," "go on a diet," or "join a gym."

Then, I realized I am not a girl, so there is no need for me to celebrate Big Girl Appreciation day.

American Hero: Benni Cinkle

So there's this video on the Internet called "Friday" that's sung by this girls named Rebecca Black. That's old news. The real story is her friend that picks her up at the bus stop and dances. She is amazing, and likely the reason Rebecca Black is motivated to live.

Here's the real breaking news...Benni and Rebecca are friends in REAL LIFE! I bet they go to the mall together, play ponies together, and listen to Radio Disney together. Benni has some great dance skills, and soon she's be showing off her singing abilities. That's right. She will be releasing her own song.

But for now, Benni have given this to the world:

Blowin' Up- Far Away

People are going to think I'm obsessed with American Idol because I made a post about Kelly, and this song features Chris Richardson who came in like 9th on season 6. Well, I am not obsessed (any more) and I haven't even watched this season at all.

This song is surprisingly good. Not what I'd expect from a rapper off of Young Money. I think that if it's released, but will be a hit!

The Price of Donating

Let me begin be saying that I love charities, volunteering, and donating. It's fun.

I've donated three times, once a year for the past three years, to the American Cancer Society. Now I get multiple newsletters sent to my e-mail every week. I wish I could just donate in peace. Now, every time I log into my e-mail account I need to be reminded that people are dying of cancer and I could win an iPod if I submit a $10 donation.

Don't get me wrong, I support the American Cancer Society, just not their e-mails.

Coming Back?

Kelly Clarkson has been out of the spotlight for a while now. Her last album did alright, and that would have left her with enough momentum to start off her next album with a hit single. Here's her real challenge: homegirl got fat. Can her career recover? It seems like she's not going to bow out without a fight, because this is one of her better song.
I would like to note that this is just a demo. It's not even guaranteed to be on her next album, but it is a good listen.

American Hero: Bertha

Every so often, I see someone in this world that leaves a permanent impression on me, and this is one of those people.

When I was 14, MTV had a show called "The Assistant" starring Andy Dick. Throughout the show, he relied on a number of people to help him select his new Assistant, and Bertha was one of those people. She was always positive, and.... well that's about all that can be said for her. Whenever asked a question, she would reply with indifference. She also tried to keep Andy's house clean, but I doubt she did a good job at that. Bertha will forever hold a place in my heart for her contributions to this country.

Osama

For those of you that don't know Osama Bin Laden is dead. It happened like two weeks ago. If you don't know who Osama Bin Laden was, he was this mean terrorist with an ugly face.

The real victim in the whole situation was NeNe Leaks. When Osama died, the Celebrity Apprentice was interrupted, and we didn't get to see NeNe defend herself in the board room. Some other girl was fired. I don't really remember who it was, but she certainly wasn't memorable.

When the "Breaking News" announcement interrupted the show, some news anchor spoiled the whole thing before Obama even got to talk. By the time Obama was going to make his announcement I was already bored and went to bed. Here's what I didn't understand, why did prime time television need to be interrupted to make this announcement? It's not like Osama was going to rise from the dead. Homeboy was killed.

Fortunately, Osama had quiet a few wives. I predict that at least one will appear on an upcoming season of Celebrity Rehab.

Introduction

I'm not very good with introductions, so this is the best I can do.
