New Kelly Clarkson!

Here's the rumored first single from Kelly's upcoming album called Let Me Down. From the sounds of it, she's entering a good era. People that liked Breakaway should like her new material.



I like this song. I'm also a fan of the song Tell Me a Lie, which I posted 2 months ago. I foresee a big comeback for Clarkson in August/September!

Blowin' Up: Victoria Justice

If anyone on Nickelodeon has a chance at a music career, it's this girl. Now people may be starting to think that I'm obsessed with Disney/Nick singers but I'm really not. I just like her songs.

The first time I heard the song Freak the Freak out by Victoria Justice, I reacted the same way as I did when I heard See You Again by Miley Cyrus. I liked the song, but I didn't know who sang it. Once I found out the singer I was surprised, but that didn't change the fact that I liked the song.

Right now Victoria Justice has a song called Best Friend's Brother which is very, very catchy. And Nickelodeon knows how to promote. During every commercial break they play 30 seconds of the song until it get stuck in your head. So there you have it. I admit it. I like Victoria Justice's music.

Half Way There: Top 11 of 2011

So we're almost half way through the year 2011, so I'm going to post my 11 favorite songs thus far this year.

11. Rolling In the Deep

 
So this is Adele's firs song off of her new CD, and at this point it's VERY overplayed. But it's a great song, and it changed her career. It turned her into a household name, and song continues to do well.

10. Donald Trump

Rookie rapper Mac Miller is making a name for himself, and I love the song. While I don't think he's the most entertaining person in the world, I love he's getting more popular.

9. Better With the Lights Off

 

This song is about as 2011 as they come. Seriously, it's based off of one of the worst pick up lines I've ever heard. It features Chris Breezy, and it is produced by the Cataracs. Somehow, it works and I've become addicted.

Biggie: Case Closed or Case Continued?

A man has come forward claiming he was paid $25,000 to assassinate Biggie. It's been over 14 years since he was shot and killed, but little information has been revealed.

So is this a true claim? In my mind, there's a lot of doubt. Firstly, it seems unlikely that there would be 2 confessions in decade-old shootings involving rappers withing the course of a month. About 3 weeks ago, a man confessed to a 1994 shooting of Tupac (not the one that killed him, but it caused Pac to get mad at Biggie).

Additionally, the motive seems questionable. Would 25 G's really be enough to kill Biggie? Knowing he was a big name in the hip hop world, it would be nearly impossible to get away with the crime, although the supposed gunman would have done a good job of it. Everyone would know this would be a very public case that would receive more attention than the average murder.

I also doubt that the public will ever really lay the case to rest. Especially considering some rando shot Biggie. The public wants a story more than answers, and I really think a lot of people will not be satisfied if the shooter is not related to the East Coast/West Coast feuds.

Either way, I'm excited that we may be getting some answers! Hopefully this is a real confession, but I do have my doubts.

Return of a Queen

One of the most innovative artists in hip-hop is spitting on a track again. Last night I watched Behind the Music: Missy Elliott, and she mentioned a new song with Timbaland. Apparently, it was released a couple of months ago, but it hasn't really caught on. I'm surprised, because it's actually a really good song. They song is supposed to be on Timbaland's Shock Value III, which has yet to be released.

 

I've always been a Missy fan, so I'm glad she's slowly releasing new music. Back when Work It was release, I couldn't get enough of it. Her songs are very unique, and she seems like a great person.

Another Love the Way You Lie?

This is just an instrumental, and the song is in no way confirmed. But if it's real it's going to be HUGE.
The song is supposedly named Slow Down, and it's by Eminem featuring Jennifer Lopez. The instrumental leaked onto the web this week, and just the instrumental is making me excited. I hope this is real, because I need another Love the Way you lie in my life.

Blowin' Up: Dirt Road Anthem

OK, so I admit that I'm not a huge country fan and I may be a little late on this song because I never follow country artists like I do artists of other genres.

It's nice to see a country artist have a successful song who's not Taylor Swift. This song is currently sitting at #10 on iTunes, and it seems to be getting more popular by the days. I'd also like to add that I like the version of the song without Ludacris, but adding him in makes listen to country music a little less dull.

So this is something different, but it's still getting popular. I do have a lot of respect for country music, but it's usually not my cup of tea. This is a welcome exception.

The Curse of Disney

It seems like every Disney star is working on their music career. Selena, Miley, Demi...and those are only the (mildly) successful ones. But looking at past Disney celebs, it seems most of them slowly fade to nothingness. Look at Hilary Duff. She used to be Disney's #1 girl, but now she has not music or acting career.

While Selena Gomez is riding high, Demi Lovato is trying to make her comeback. She has recently been a topic of controversy, and has been in and out of medical care. It's not uncommon for a Disney star to be caught in a scandal, and recovering can be hard. Demi has a single that's going to be released on July 18, so then we'll be able to see if she can recover. Until then, we have Selena Gomez to keep up preoccupied.

I really hope Nickelodeon star can take over the Disney stars someday. They're much more talented.

Justin Timberspace

So Justin Timblerlake just bought Myspace. I have no idea what he's going to do with an entire social network, but I like that it's creating some buzz for Myspace. I'll admit that back in 2006 I was addicted to Myspace. Ever since the world transitioned to Facebook, so have I. There still is a part of me that wants Myspace to become popular again, but the site really has declined.

No one really knows what Justin's going to do with the site, but he wanted to make it a place where fans can connect with their favorite artists. The problem is, that's what Myspace already is. His vision isn't unique, but he's got time to work on it. I'm sure he's at least boost the website's popularity a little bit.

Drake's Return

 

Drake is working on his second album, and so far he's posted 2 songs. Both of them are of him singing, not rapping. When it comes to singing, Drake is pretty text book. A lot of his songs are set up the same way. I usually don't like these songs at first, but they grow on my.

His first song that's made any impact is called Marvin's room. Honestly, I don't feel like it's anything special. He built his fan base on his raps, so he better deliver some good ones soon.
