Half Way There: Top 11 of 2011

So we're almost half way through the year 2011, so I'm going to post my 11 favorite songs thus far this year.

11. Rolling In the Deep

So this is Adele's firs song off of her new CD, and at this point it's VERY overplayed. But it's a great song, and it changed her career. It turned her into a household name, and song continues to do well.

10. Donald Trump

Rookie rapper Mac Miller is making a name for himself, and I love the song. While I don't think he's the most entertaining person in the world, I love he's getting more popular.

9. Better With the Lights Off

This song is about as 2011 as they come. Seriously, it's based off of one of the worst pick up lines I've ever heard. It features Chris Breezy, and it is produced by the Cataracs. Somehow, it works and I've become addicted.

8. Last Friday Night

The song is fun, but nothing amazing. When you factor in the video, there's no denying that you have a summer anthem. Katy Perry...or should I say Kathy Beth Terry...makes being a nerd cool.

7. Black and Yellow

I've said it before, but Wiz got really lucky with this song. It was released at the right time because the Steelers were in the Superbowl at the peak of its fame. But it's a good song, and it introduced the mainstream to Wiz. I still play it too, and it's a good song.

6. Where Them Girls At?

France has given American plenty of good things. Fashion, fries, the Statue of Liberty...but my favorite is DJ David Guetta. His contagious club bangers are all over the radio. When you take 3 of the biggest radio artists of the past couple of years and put them together on one song, You have a guaranteed hit called Where Them Girls At.

5. John

Adding Wayne to a song is one way to make a hit, and here he shows why his fans love him. This song goes hard, and it makes me excited for Tha Carter IV. Good work Tunechi.

4. What the Hell?

Avril's fans love her slow songs, but her fun songs are what the mainstream loves. This was her first big hit in years, and it was just what I needed. I loved the song, still love it, and want more from Avril. I never would have thought the girl from complicated would still be here today.

3. Best Thing I Never Had

Beyonce does what she does best on this song: belts it out. The ballad is a dying breed of song, but she does a good job with it, and it looks like she has a hit on her hands.

2. On the Floor

If there's one woman that's had a good year so far, it's Ms. Lopez. She's a new judge on American Idol, and she had a HUGE hit with On the Floor. It's a great song that the radio ate up, and so did I.

 1. The Edge of Glory

For Gaga, this song is weird because it's so normal. It's a great song, and it doesn't rely on controversial topics to make it popular. It has a hint of the 80's in it, and it features that late Clarence Clemons just weeks before his death. It may be my favorite song from Gaga so far!

So this is my list. It's really all opinion based, and subject to change.
