Legends In the Making

Has anyone ever played the 10 year game? Well, I'm thinking about 10 years down the road right now and wondering which artists will obtain that legend status. Not all artists become legends, in fact very few do. True legends will sell out arenas in 10 years and their new material will be respected, not just the old stuff. In 10 years, they will still be able to see the top of the charts.

Here are some of my guesses for future legends:
Rihanna
I'm not her biggest fan, but she is always at the top of the charts. While I think the song Umbrella will obtain the most longevity, she has a way of always spawning #1s. This is what will keep her name relevant for years to come.

Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood knows what her fan base wants, and this is one of the reasons she'll be selling records far longer than Taylor Swift. The fact that she won American Idol, and is arguably the most successful Idol, will add to her potential. While she may not be as well known as other legends, she has a big enough fan base to support her for years to come. If she scores another big hit then great, but it not she'll continue to have her loyal fans.

Justin Timberlake
JT was recently quoted saying that he'd be famous if he never had N'sync. Even though it made him sound like a cocky prick, it's true. Who doesn't recognize Mr. Sexyback? I don't know why he's wasting his time acting right now, but when his next album drops it's sure to sell and chart well.

Beyonce
There's a TV show named after one of her songs. She goes by just one name and no one remembers her background singers from Destiny's Child. The fact of the matter is that Beyonce may be the biggest singer of this generation and if there's one person that I think will be a legend, she's it.

Usher
I hated the song OMG, but apparently I was the only one. Usher has been compared to everyone from B2K to Michael Jackson, but the fact of the matter he's the one that can still land on top. He makes producing hits seem effortless, and this makes me doubt that he'll stop making them.

P!nk
She's the little engine that could, and if someone told me in 2000 that ten years later Pink would be still be relevant and mentally stable I'd think they were lying.  But here she is, and she's doing better than ever before. She's now a mother and got a #1 single all by herself. At this rate there's not stopping her, and her fan base continues to grow.
