Amy had a lot of problems with drugs and alcohol and this was very publicly profiled. While she gained fame for her amazing vocals, this fame was short lived. Rather than being know as an upcoming talent, she was known for her drug use. Although she did have a troubled life, I really think that the lack of support from the media made matters worse.
While the cause of death it still said to be unknown, it's mostly likely drug related. Just a month ago, I wrote a blog saying that she needed help after she was booed off stage for a sloppy performance. After this, she canceled her upcoming tour. This could have been an opportunity for her friends to intervene, but I guess they didn't.
Now we are left with her catalog of music. While small compared to other artists, her songs are still good listens.
