The 10 Hottest Acts of Summer 2011

Please click to read the whole post.

So I guess I’m just really into trying to guess things, but these are my guesses as to who will be music’s biggest stars this summer. Some of these are obvious, and some I may have already talked about, but here goes nothing…

Lady Gaga We get it. Gaga’s HUGE. She just sold 1.1 million copies in a single week, the 10th biggest debut ever. So of course she’s going to make the list. While the song Judas isn’t as big as some may have anticipated, The Edge of Glory is really blowing up, and we’ll be hearing it all summer.

LMFAO I’m kind of surprised to see them on my list, but I can’t deny that they’re really popular right now. Their song Party Rock Anthem is getting a lot of air time, and people are starting to recognize them as the party animals they are. I don’t think they’ll be popular for very long, so enjoy them while they last.

Selena Gomez Selena and her band The Scene have been spitting out music really quickly for the past year. Her song Who Says was really popular for about a week, but I just head a clip of the song Bang Bang Bang, and I’m fairly certain this on is going to be a hit. It’s really catchy, and is about her “current boyfriend” AKA Biebs.

Pitbull Pitbull has never really been much more than a feature artist, but his new album Planet Pit is getting great reviews. It will be released in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime Give Me Everything is owning the radio, and it’s only a matter of time before International love will take its spot.

Britney Spears Britney’s music can be pretty hit or miss. He recent album Femme Fatale has been decently successful, but I don’t feel she’s released her best material from it yet. Her next single I Wanna Go is coming soon, and let’s be honest, with the name Britney Spears on the track you know somebody’s going to play it.

Lil Wayne AKA “Tunechi” as he likes to be called nowadays. His follow up to 2008′s Tha Carter III is anticipated to be one of the summer’s biggest releases. His new song How To Love is not only gaining momentum, but it also shows a different side of him. If he keeps it up, his going to be seeing big numbers in the first week.
Katy Perry Let me start off by saying that I love the cover for Last Friday Night, the song which will be her next single. So far she’s 4 for 4 on #1 single off of her album Teenage Dream, and she’s going for her fifth.  The only other artist to have 5 #1 singles off of the same album is Michael Jackson, and Katy is looking to share the title with him. If she’s going to do it, I think the picked the right song to be her fifth single.

Beyonce Mrs. Jay-Z’s new album is dropping in a couple of weeks, and we know it’s going to sell. While Girl (Who Run the World) underperformed, her next single is a mid-tempo ballad, which is Beyonce’s specialty.

Kelly Clarkson A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that Kelly had a new single that leaked. While he first single off of her upcoming album is yet to be announced, she did say we’ll be hearing it in the beginning of July. When the song is out, no one will care about Scotty. Kelly is the American Idol.

Shontelle I may be going out on a limb with this one, but Shontelle has a new single called Say Hello to Goodbye that is supposedly getting the same about of radio play that Impossible was getting at this time last summer. I really like to song, and wish her the best of luck. I’m surprised I even have reason to put her name on this list, and hopefully she doesn’t prove me wrong.

I’d also like to point out that there are some names I didn’t include on this list. For starters, Adele is not here. While I know we’ll be hearing her this summer, I think she’s passed her peak. I doubt her next single will be as big as Rolling In the Deep. I wish I could put Dr. Dre on the list, but no one knows when we’ll actually see Detox be released. I’d like to put my faith in a Michelle Branch comeback (because she does have a song coming out) but there’s no indication that she’ll be as big as she was in 2002. Additionally, I wish I could put Ke$ha on the list, but I think everyone’s waiting for her new material.
